MacBook Pro 13" (2016–2019) repair in Culver City.
This is the butterfly keyboard generation, and it is the single most keyboard-troubled MacBook Apple made — the mechanism sits so close to the case that dust alone causes failures. These are Intel machines with Thunderbolt 3 ports and, on most versions, a Touch Bar.
MacBook Pro 13" (2016–2019) repair prices
Prices for this model specifically, not a starting figure from a cheaper MacBook. Excludes CA sales tax; final price confirmed after a free in-store diagnostic.
What usually goes wrong on this one
Sticking, repeating or dead keys are the signature fault on this generation, and they are not fixable a key at a time. The keyboard is riveted into the top case, so the repair replaces the assembly.
Not sure that's your model?
A 13-inch Pro with a Touch Bar on most versions, four or two Thunderbolt 3 ports depending on configuration, and very shallow key travel. Underside reads A1706, A1708, A1989 or A2159.
MacBook Pro 13" (2016–2019) questions
On butterfly keyboards the keys share a single mechanism riveted into the top case. Apple built it as one unit, so individual keys are not serviceable.
Some of these were covered by Apple's service programme, though the eligibility window has closed for most. Check with Apple first using your serial — if it is not covered, we can quote the repair.
