MacBook Air Retina (2018–2020) repair in Culver City.
This was the first Air with a Retina display and the last before Apple Silicon. It spans a keyboard change: the 2018 and 2019 models (A1932) use the butterfly mechanism, while the 2020 refresh (A2179) moved to the more reliable scissor Magic Keyboard. Which one you have changes what a keyboard fault means.
MacBook Air Retina (2018–2020) repair prices
Prices for this model specifically, not a starting figure from a cheaper MacBook. Excludes CA sales tax; final price confirmed after a free in-store diagnostic.
What usually goes wrong on this one
On the butterfly years, a single crumb under a key causes sticking, repeating or dead keys, and the mechanism cannot be serviced key-by-key. Battery wear is the other common one at this age.
Not sure that's your model?
A wedge body like the older Air but with thin black display bezels rather than the wide silver ones. Two USB-C ports on the left. The underside reads A1932 for 2018–2019 or A2179 for 2020.
MacBook Air Retina (2018–2020) questions
On the butterfly models, no — the keys share one mechanism assembly and Apple designed it as a single unit. We quote the keyboard as a whole after confirming which year you have.
Check the model number on the underside: A1932 is butterfly, A2179 is the scissor Magic Keyboard. Bring it in and we will confirm it for you.
